Here's the vid of lil bits' first goal in soccer. I was going to make a whole movie out of all the mov I took but movie maker doesn't handle mov files and I don't have a converter (if anyone knows a good free mov converter, let me know)

It was a great game and she looks like she will be more involved this year (4-6 year old squads).

Stop-loss hit theaters... and the theaters hit back (hehTM).

I told my dad that this was a train-wreck waiting to happen and it did. The numbers are something like 7th for the weekend (behind Debbie does Dallas XXXII) and the only rave revues are coming from people that actually are in the film.

For a great review of the movie, head over to Libertas and read theirs.
Actual line from the film: "F**K the President." A half-hour in, when absolutely nothing we've been told about this character prepares us for it, that's what comes out of the mouth of our protagonist war hero, Brandon King (Ryan Phillipe). Like someone flipped a switch, King transforms from hoo-rah Army sergeant to Code Pink mouthpiece. "Wait a minute," he protests, to his commanding officer, "Stop-loss is only in effect during times of war, and the President said the war was over." That's the logic our screenwriters came up with as motivation for desertion.
Read the whole review (and the comments) this is some good stuff. (h/t ACE)

Lil bit's first game was today for the season. She is on the Wolves team this year and her coach is her teacher (she's excited about that).

Got a lot of video and pictures that I'll put up when I finally go home tomorrow (night probably) but she scored her 1st goal! :) [they won 3-2 even though they don't officially keep score]

Got a couple of people interested on my house (one buy, one rent) so hopefully something will go through on that soon.

Why Does the Looney Left Focus On Just The Total Of The National Debt??

EuroYank(TM - no link) challenged Nazh to respond to one of his posts concerning the national debt under Bush. Since Nazh has been busy with other posts, I happily accept the challenge.

Some of what EuroYank(TM) says has merit. Others, do not. We'll go through some of them one by one.

Here's one quote which I love to hear from the Left

When Mr Bush took office he inherited a $236 billion budget surplus. Bill Clinton, his predecessor, had used budget surpluses to pay down some of the national debt in his last two years in office

I beg to differ Yank, but you're wrong if you think that Clinton had much to do with the decline of the deficits from 1995-2000.

I'll explain why I say that.

Each year, the President must submit an 5 year budget forecast. What this forecast does is to identify his budgetary priorities and to show how his fiscal policies will affect the economy and receipts to the federal coffers.

After Clinton got his massive tax hike (on the backs of the middle class) in 1993 from the Democrat-controlled Congress, he submitted a forecast each year which showed $200m+ deficits extending well past the year 2000.

Then 1994 came along and the GOP swept into power. With it came a promise by the GOP to balance the budget and cut the debt down.

In January 1995, the Clinton administration produced still another 5 year forecast which again showed that we would experience $200+m deficits well past the year 2000.

Now... again.

This is the President basically saying;

" These are my economic policies and this is what will happen if we keep following them.

In fact, he said (after the GOP started talking about a balanced budget) that we could not balance it in less than 10 years without draconian cuts.

What happened though? The GOP Congress forced him to submit a balanced budget and with the capital gains cut and Welfare Reform Act that the GOP Congress forced him to sign, the tax receipts increased over five-fold. So in 6 short years, we were forecasting a $230m surplus.

Pssst...That's a difference of over $400m for those who are playing this game at home.

Please do not make the mistake of assuming that Clinton had much to do with any of the economic success of the 90's other than signing his name on a bill. The Clinton administration was taken by surprise at the good economic results that happened, not because, but in spite of their economic policies.

In fact, the entire looney Left was taken by surprise it the fact that tax cuts actually increase revenue. This is because they treat economic variables as constants. The Left consistently misunderstands the relationship between tax rates and the incentives to work more ( which raises your pay), to invest ( which helps you and the company you invest in)and to take economic risks (like starting a company - which would in turn emply people).

Lets go on to the next one shall we??

Bush's tax cuts account for 30 percent of the debt limit increases required during his presidency. Revenue losses from a recession and new spending to combat terrorism and for the war in Iraq are also responsible.

A recession that started under Clinton because he failed to act and cut taxes soon enough. A War on Terror which was a result of Clinton not acting to get Bin Laden when we had the chance. The economic effects of 9/11 and the recession Bush inherited had pushed down federal receipts until his tax cuts passed and the coffers started filling up faster than ever before.

Going on...

* The true national debt is $50 trillion, not the $8.3 trillion Bush reported.
That's $156,000 for every citizen, or $375,000 for every working American
This figure has more than doubled in the past five years. We paid $327 billion last year on interest alone

Really? Bush is responsible for all of this? Come on!!

We've had a national debt in this country since around 1791. We went way into debt when we borrowed money from France so we could do the "Louisiana Purchase"

Anyone think we were foolish with our money by doubling the size of the country overnight??

Ok...enough of the Ben Stein impression. I'll explain what I mean.

I love how people like to equate the USA to a company. Ok lets do that. Go get the financial records of any public company. Look specifically at the BALANCE SHEET. Everyone loves to focus on the DEBT (read: Liabilities) of the US. Noone focuses on the ASSETS do they? The land, infrastructure (i.e. - highways), weapons (i.e- aircraft carriers), buildings (i.e.- libraries) are worth something aren't they??

Additionally, the $50 Trillion number is by adding Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare (which we don't do). But you see that the way they are structured is the reason why the number is so high. We have to reform those programs or we don't have a prayer. We could stop all military spending and stop all pork-barrel spending but we wouldn't come close to knocking these liabilities down without reforming these programs.

Unfortunately, Bush (the looney Left's "bogeyman") was the one who tried to reform Social Security so that it would be more secure and self-sustaining by changing its unfunded liability into a fully funded liability.

Who stood in his way? Oh yeah, thats right... they'd the ones on Capitol Hill with a "D" after their names.

Until Social Security and Medicare are reformed, we won't address these liabilities (regardless of which party is in office).

Now lets focus on the debt - which we count officially at $9 Trillion BTW

Lets compare our total National debt to our annual federal budget and the nation's GDP.

Before I go further let me illustrate something to you.

My wife and I just bought our first home. Lets say we paid $300k for it and we have an annual combined income of $100k. Now...since I lack the $300k in cash, I need to finance it. In other words, I need to take on new debt in the form of a mortgage. Let us just say for argument's sake that the "carrying cost" (mortgage payment) is roughly $2k a month.

Think that's high?

It might be for you. It might be for me and my wife.

So we might struggle to make ends meet.

Now, lets say Bill Gates buys the house and decides to finance it as well (he can make more than 6% in the market). Think Bill Gates is sweating a $2k monthly payment?

You don't? Why not?

-Lightbulbs goes off in liberals heads the world over-

That's right...because he has more money!! He simply has far more money each month than it takes to carry the cost of the debt.

Now...back to the National debt and the "carrying cost" of servicing this debt. The carrying cost of the national debt is our yearly payments on the "net interest" on the total debt. According to the Concord Coalition the net interest in fiscal year 2007 was $238 billion.

This is about 9% of the federal budget.

Now... back to my wife and I. If our yearly mortgage payments totalled 9% of our income that would put our total mortgage payments ( assuming we made $100k) at $9k a year. Which works out to a monthly payment of $750.

The key the carrying cost of any debt in relation to your wealth and income.

A $2k payment every month might be a stretch for you or I.

To Bill Gates, that is pocket change.

Simply put...the goal isn't to focus on the debt but to make sure the debt payments fall in relation to GDP.

According to Concord;

For fiscal year 2007, outlays for net interest equaled ($238 billion) 1.7 percent of GDP. Its recent high point was 3.3 percent of GDP in 1991.

Which is what they have done under Bush despite a 9/11 attack that severely harmed our economy and inheriting the recession from Clinton. Oh yeah and don't forget that we're actually fighting a war (which always requires that a nation go into debt to prosecute correctly).

Now I have been critical of Bush and the GOP controlled Congress for not reining in discretionary spending but the fact remains that (according to Concord)

During the 1980s and 90s, before the 1998-2001 surpluses, interest regularly consumed 13 percent or more of the federal budget a year, reaching a high point of 15.4 percent in 1996.

Everyone get that?? Under Bill Clinton the "mortgage payment" of our country was higher (at 15.4%) in relation to our income than under the "evil" Bush (at 9% in 2007).

So ... during the Clinton presidency ... which the Left regards as the "good old years" we actually had a tougher time making our "mortgage payment" as a nation.

And Clinton had it easy compared to Bush. It was after the Cold War was over. No major enemies (although Clinton did nothing about Bin Laden) and no wars to fight (Gulf War 1 was over by then). The only sustained action was in Bosnia ( we were involved due to the impotence of European militaries to yet again solve problems on their own continent) but even this doesn't come close to the economic stress 9/11 and the War on Terror has had.

And I am supposed to get worked up that, under Bush, the total debt has risen even though Bush inherited a big mess economically (as opposed to Clinton inheriting an economy that had already been growing for 21 months prior to taking office - a stone cold fact - look it up!!)??

Forgive me if I don't jump off the same economic-sky-is-falling cliff as the rest of the looney Left.

I'll have more to speak on this subject. But that is for another day.

Stay tuned...

Good post on the recent dust-up of Hillary!

Imagine you're applying for a really important job.

You submit your resume listing your accomplishments and your skillset. This is the document that the employer has to go on when deciding if you get an interview and... ultimately... the job.

What do you think would happen if the employer found out that you lied on your resume?

I know that I would not get an interview, let alone the job.

Which is why I'm curious as to why Hillary Clinton still has a snowball's chance for the democrat nomination given her most recent "whopper" of a lie. I know, a Clinton lying is not really a big shocker. But bear with me and you will be amazed at the way this woman can lie without any discernible physical indication that she is dissembling. Psychiatrists call that a mark of someone who is a Sociopath. I'll let you decide.

Can't get him to post here at all (heh) but he's still alive and doing well... Give him a visit

Tax THEN Spend

A great look at Democratic policies at work (or liberal policies if you want to get 100% accurate):
The Chicago Sun-Times really pulled a whopper in their March 26th piece about a tax on bottled water that the Chicago City Council passed earlier this year. Chicago levied a 5 cent a bottle tax on each unit of bottled water sold in the city expecting to raise $875,000 a month on the tax. But somehow this windfall to the city has yet to be realized with the tax booty so far only amounting to $554,000. Because of this "below expected" revenue the Sun-Times claimed that this shortfall is "exacerbating a budget crunch" for the city.

I'm sorry Sun-Times but a tax shortfall isn't "exacerbating a budget crunch." The city itself is doing the "exacerbating" not the taxpayers. The City Council created a never before heard of tax and then spent the money it assumed it'd get. But then it didn't get it. How can we blame the taxpayers who avoided the tax -- legally avoided it, I might add -- for any "budget crunch"? The budget crunch is the fault of wild spending by the Chicago City Council, not by the taxpayers not being bled enough.

Click through and read the rest; it's enough to make you wonder (unless of course you believe in the power of the almighty government, then you'll simply wonder at the evil!! of the tax-payers that didn't buy the water).

You need to go over to Rachel's and read this story:

So guess what Al Sharpton and the NAACP are doing? Protesting in front of the State Attorney's Office's, in support of the rapists. They say it's "unfair" that these animals are being held without bail.

This is because some white kids in a neighboring city were recently charged with gang-raping two drunk female friends, and were released on bail. Which means that RACISM is in play!

Sharpton said the black teens remain jailed and the white teens are free on bond, despite them committing the "same act."

"To have different reactions to the same set of circumstances is a crime in itself," Sharpton said.

The real crime here is that a man who doesn't understand the meaning of simple English words is a wealthy preacher who's regularly featured on news programs as a "black activist".

After you read it and let it sink in, remember this is a man who wants the world to follow him to hell.

UPDATE: Hostage situation at University of Louisville

More information is available on the story posted earlier.

Woman in hostage incident now charged in murders of her two children

A 37 year old Louisville woman has been charged with the shooting deaths of her two children at their Okolona home. Gail Lynn Coontz is also the woman that was involved in a hostage incident Thursday at the University of Louisville.

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Louisville Metro Police announced Coontz's arrest in the children's deaths, ages 10 and 14. Their bodies had been found Thursday morning inside the family's home at 4709 Settle Blvd.

Coontz has been charged with the murder of her 14 year old son Gregory and 10 year old daughter Randi. It is always a tragedy when children are the victims of such horrible acts of violence. But when the violence is perpetrated by a loved one. Especially when it is a parent. Mothers are many times the parent that children trust the most.

I can only hope that this woman is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Then may she rot in jail until the State puts her out of our misery.

Hostage situation at University of Louisville

WAVE 3 TV Louisville, KY | Police arrest woman with gun at UofL Belknap campus

A woman who walked into a health services building with a gun at the University of Louisville about 8:30 a.m. Thursday briefly took a counselor hostage before being disarmed, and that incident may be connected to the discovery of the bodies of two young children in an Okolona home....

According to campus police, the woman is a student, and used a gun to hold her female counselor hostage. We're told the student was at the health center trying to get some sort of help, but the situation quickly turned confrontational.

Here is the chronology as presented in the news reports.

  1. 8:30am (approx) Woman arrives on campus with a gun.
  2. 8:32am A distress alert came in from student services, asking for an officer.
  3. 8:34am Campus police dispatch was notified
  4. 8:39am A UofL police officer arrived on the scene.
  5. 8:43am That officer called for backup.
  6. 8:46am That officer found the suspect.
  7. 9:04am UofL officials used the new campus alert system to warn students and staff about the armed student, sending emails and text messages to students as well as broadcasting an alert over a PA system.
  8. 9:13am Student was disarmed.
Thank God that no one on campus was harmed. The anti-gun crowd will hold this up as a victory for the system. I'm sure that they will mention that the police arrived and disarmed the suspect and no lives were lost and no injuries reported. While this is partially true, you must realize that if this woman truly wanted shoot someone on campus, she had approximately 17 minutes to do so before she was found by campus police. Seventeen minutes. That is an eternity when someone has a gun with no one there to stop them. 17 minutes. I argue that the system did not work, merely that the gunman (in this case woman) did not have the conviction to kill... again.
LMPD officials now confirm they received a call from campus police asking them to check the home of the student, and that's where police found two young children who had been fatally shot.

I have not heard details of exactly what happened but sadly it appears that this woman took the lives of her children before she left for the UofL campus.

In a related point... Here is a quote that I just had to post. I love this:
"The university immediately notified the campus through our emergency communication system," UofL President James Ramsey said.
This is priceless! Since when is 18 minutes immediately? EIGHTEEN MINUTES! But it's ok. The campus is a gun-free zone.

New Mafia?

The term 'sleeping with the fishes' comes from mafia-speak meaning killing someone by throwing them in the river (usually with concrete shoes), now it seems to have a new meaning*:

Police have closed down a circus in southern Italy after a terrified 19-year-old girl was forced to swim in a tank full of piranha fish while her younger sister endured the company of snakes and tarantulas.

Three men have been arrested and charged with holding the Bulgarian girls in slavery and breaching international human rights conventions.

The trio, who are accused of running a "circus of horrors", were named as Enrico Raffaele Ingrassia, 57, the owner, his son William Ingrassia, 33, and his son in law Gaetano Belfiore, 25.

The Marino Circus has been offering shows at Petina south of Naples in southern Italy, in a tent with 200 plastic seats inside it.

*I realize that this would be swimming with the fishes, but it wouldn't fit perfectly then heh.

The people in charge of this circus should be shot; of course they will be charged with 'international' crimes and will get off with a slap on the wrist.

Top 9 Barack Obama Complaints

Found this over at TheNoseonYourFace and thought I'd share it:
9. Been looking at things from a "glass-half-empty" perspective. Now they only point out the people he didn't feed with the loaves of bread and fish, not the millions who have already eaten their full through Him.

8. They keep bringing up that picture of him in the Muslim-ish outfit. Like a picture is going to impact a presidential candidates campaign!

7. Have not properly re-calibrated their "Victim-o-meters" yet. Everyone knows that a black, former Muslim with the ability to commune with animals, is entitled to far better coverage than a white woman whose major claim to fame is that she survived having a house dropped on her a few years back.
TheNoseonYourFaceVisited this site awhile back and forgot about it. Love the place. I encourage everyone to visit and laugh.  There will (eventually) be something for everyone over there ;)

Violence in Basra

In the 'why didn't we kill him earlier' department:
BASRA, Iraq, March 25 (Reuters) - Iraqi security forces battled the Mehdi Army militia in Basra on Tuesday in a drive to win control of the southern oil city, but violence and unrest spread to Baghdad and other cities.

Police and health workers said at least 12 people were killed in the fighting in districts of central and northern Basra where Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army has a strong presence.

In a statement read out by a senior aide on Tuesday, Sadr called on Iraqis to stage sit-ins all over Iraq and said he would declare a "civil revolt" if attacks by U.S. and Iraqi security forces continued. He also threatened a "third step", but said it was too early to announce what it would be.
The sorry unwashed lout that runs the Mehdi 'Army' in Baghdad is feeling left out once again and making life hard for the people he claims to be trying to help.  Sadr should have been removed (permanently) back when we had the chance.  Until he leaves public life, the Iraqis will be the ones to suffer.

Tiger is human again this week after coming in 5th at the CA Championship. Of course he was 5 down going into Monday's finish (rain) and only lost by 2 strokes, so it's not like he had no shot.

Normally it isn't good for a sport to have one dominate person/team and no legitimate rivalry to keep up interest and ESPN has been trying for a few years to make the Tiger/Mickleson a real one to no avail. Somehow though, this isn't needed in golf. Tiger is dominate in a way no other sports person is and instead of turning off viewers and fans, it has energized the sport.

Did anyone really think Tiger would have a perfect year? Some probably did, but not me; the only thing Tiger needs to do and wants to do is win the big 4.

A 2-car accident at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 157 near Muscle Shoals, Alabama today around 6:30pm.

I didn't see anyone near this car so I assume they were taken away in the ambulance that left. The other vehicle was a red Dodge Ram (late model) and there were 3-4 people standing around it that looked dazed but unhurt.

If TimesDaily puts out a piece on it, I'll get more info and post it here. Sad to have an accident on Easter, I hope everyone turns out ok.

Image from Aubrey

Christians across the world celebrate Easter, to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion, on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs upon or next after the Spring Equinox. (In the Eastern Orthodox Church a slightly different calculation is followed, so their Easter may or may not coincide with that of the Western church).

The celebration of Easter is preceded by the forty days of Lent, a period of prayer and self-denial for Christians. The period of Lent includes Holy Week, the week immediately preceding Easter Sunday.

Now read the story that lies behind the festival.

Happy Easter everyone!

Frank Schaeffer's column at the Huffington Post is headlined:

This Good Friday Let Us Not Crucify Barack Obama
Excuse me? Nobody is talking about crucifying anybody. It's just politics, Frank. The three remaining presidential candidates -- Obama, Hillary and McCain -- are all U.S. senators, and should they lose, they'll still be U.S. senators. So to suggest that criticizing them is akin to crucifixion is ... well, maybe it's not blasphemy, but it's pretty ridiculous.

Speaking of ridiculous, here's the first paragraph of Schaeffer's column:
The Other McCain
Great post on the left's obsession with their savior over at tOM (new site to me). Followed a link from Ace I think to get there and liked what I saw on this post and others.

It's scary just how much the liberals have invested emotionally in the Obamessiah meme and just what they will do to keep the train going. I realize that the Hildabeast can't win mathematically but neither can BO. It will take the 'free-will' super-delegates to win the D-nomination and one way or another some group will have a reason to be pissed when it's over.

As a conservative, I'm loving every minute of it. The 'inclusive' left [heh that's like saying Islam is the Religion of Peace] is getting the stereotyping they deserve and the corner they've painted themselves into will be wet when it's over.

Name that Party

Not sure if editorials are game for this contest, I'll have to ask Don.

STATE attorney general, Darrell McGraw has used his office to sue companies. He contracts the work to private lawyers who may pocket a third of any award.

Many of these companies deserve to be sued.

But instead of having the Legislature appropriate the winnings, the attorney general has been doing so.

It's only 8 paragraphs or so, but I never did find out the party affiliation to the AG.  And I think Don should be familiar with the media outlet :)

The Obama Response

Read this reply to a post over at HotAir and thought it summed up this nicely.
Obama is everything that ever bothered me about the Democrats, embodied in one empty suit. In a country of 300 million, there are thousands of people truly qualified to serve as President. Hundreds of them are black. And this is the best the Democrats could do? An ethically challenged Illinois machine pol with, at the least, a profound tolerance for vicious racist and anti-American views, skating into the election on a paper-thin resume, and forced to spend his campaign time explaining why we should all make allowances for the insane rants he’s quietly bathed in for 20 years? Are there no black Democrats who haven’t had chummy dinners with murderous terrorists, and who could take the campaign stage with a joyous, sincere cry of “God Bless America!” at every rally? I had the same sad feeling after the 2004 elections. The Democrats needed a military veteran to run against Bush… couldn’t they find one who wasn’t a fraud?

Are we asking too much to insist that our presidential candidates be qualified, and their patriotism unqualified?

Discriminating Whore (heh)

Philadelphia drops lawsuit against 'English-only' sign:
The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations today dismissed its discrimination case against Joey Vento for the speak-English sign posted at his South Philadelphia sandwich shop.

The panel found "insufficient evidence" that the sign in the window of Geno's Steaks had the effect of denying service to anyone.

Philadelphia Inquirer
It only took two years of public money to finally get the HR commission to drop the case. If they would use their talents on actual HR cases, Philly might be a better place for people to actually live.

With all the money Ashley is getting, seems the $1 million from the "Girls Gone Wild" gang won't be coming:
LOS ANGELES - Stop that $1 million check: It turns out the call girl linked to Eliot Spitzer had already shed her clothes for "Girls Gone Wild" as an 18-year-old while partying in Miami, the video company's founder said yesterday.

Joe Francis had reached out to Ashley Alexandra Dupre, now 22, with an offer of $1 million to appear in a non-nude spread for his company's new magazine, plus a chance to join the "Girls Gone Wild" tour bus, his company announced yesterday. But Francis said someone had a revelation at yesterday morning's staff meeting: Did anyone think to check the archives?
Philadelphia Inquirer
Who would have thought that the high-priced whore that the Spitz slept with would have taken her clothes off already on camera... mind-boggling eh?

GB Internet Gun Dealer Partners With Students

Eric Thompson, president of the Web-based firearms and sporting goods dealer that sold firearms and accessories to the shooters in the Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois University massacres,
Cheap shot. Right up at the top, first sentence, of the story. Liberal bais? (EMB)
Next month Thompson and TGSCOM, Inc,... will partner with the 22,000 member Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) organization by supplying holsters for the organization’s second annual empty-holster protest.
SCCC, founded in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, and Thompson share the same mission – to allow licensed individuals to carry concealed firearms on campuses for self-defense.

In April, thousands of students from across the country will wear empty holsters to their classes in protest of laws and school policies that do not allow licensed and trained individuals to carry a firearm in supposed “gun-free zones” on campuses. The protest will be staged the week after the one year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.
I doubt the uppity Libs that run these college campi are listening to THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THEIR SALARIES. But clearly many students do not feel that these colleges are doing enough to make things safe for them on campus. Unless they plan on posting armed security in every class room on campus, there is no way that a college can guarantee the safety of their students from a person with murderous intent. And putting up gun free zone signs are nothing more than saying "Hey, you'll be able to pop a dozen people, have time to reload, and drop several more before you even have to worry about someone trying to stop you." State legislatures and college campi need to get rid of this gun free zone = safety mentality.

Before you say, more guns are never the answer. Ask yourself this... How many times have you heard of a gun store being the victim of an armed robbery? How many shooting sprees happen at gun shows? When was the last mass murder that happened during an NRA meeting? I didn't think so.

When seconds matter, the police are only minutes away.

Hillary's papers came out. They show tons of experience to be a first lady... too bad that's not what she's running for eh?

WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton kept her schedule packed when allegations exploded that her husband had an affair with an intern, according to papers released Wednesday that show her daily activities as first lady, her travels abroad and the legal woes that dogged the Clintons in the White House.

The private crisis came at the most public of times for the wife who initially believed her husband's protestations of innocence, before his story crumbled.

She had speeches scheduled, at home and abroad. She appeared by Bill Clinton's side at an education event where he angrily dismissed the reports of his womanizing. And if that were not enough, there was his State of the Union address.

I'm sure someone will peruse the papers more fully and find something in them, in which case I'll blog about that later.

Obama isn't (w)right

Ok, I've read the speech (still havn't listened to it, but I will) and basically Obama blames everything on white people again.

He starts out good and then turns the corner and outs his (white) grandmother for being a closet-racist and somehow that makes the good Rev. ok. Every argument Obama puts out there he ties into the past and somehow tries to make it justifiable for a church to espouse the sentiments that this one did.

He claims that he's sure that everyone disagreed with their pastor over the years (nevermind that not everyone's pastor says the same bullshit that this one does) and somehow tries to deflect criticism from himself to everyone listening to him.

This man isn't in the mold of Sharpton or Jackson; he's the updated version of them.

I didn't watch his race speech so I'm going to link you to someone who did (and writes better than I do anyway)

Anonymous Sinners

No More Hijab - a Persian version of hip hopping rap, this is an example of underground anti regime rebelliousness of kids in Iran. Check out the footage around the 50 seconds mark, where the Lady Fashion Posse Police gets her Vice Preventing assets handed to her by a bad hijabed ho who owns her own ride.

The artists who created this have several nom de guerres - like "Anonymous Sinners"

Actually quite good. Homey production values, cool tones, a hook with a doable beat tends to create a sense of solidarity with girls in the Mullah's time travelling republic.

330 mpg

Reading up on the Aptera and I like it. According to the website the car will be limited to Cali residents for awhile before (hopefully) being offered nationally and internationally. While I don't think that's fair, I can live with it if it does finally make it to here (I need a good mpg car for work).

The car is designed to go 85-95 mph tops (because of the lightweight) and will be a hybrid or pure electric. Three wheels and classified as a motorcycle (up goes the insurance) it's made out of composites and has some designs that are used for race cars to help with roll-over potential.

Read the article and see what the future may look like :)

Of course it will take quite awhile for the Aptera to make it to backwoods Alabama, so I'll have to look elsewhere. I used to own a Mazda 3 and loved that little car, so I may go back that way; or heck I could even look into a mini van (they are getting better looking). Mustang is still my favorite car, but they seemed to want to price them out of my league all of a sudden (heh).

The best looking 'luxury' car that I could afford would have to be a Nissan Altima and even that is pushing my finances. But the cars are sweet looking, drive great (friend has one) and need little upkeep.

March Madness

Selections coming up soon. Still think it'll be North Carolina, Memphis, UCLA and Tennessee as the four #1's but of course if the selection guys watch ESPN then substitute Kansas/Texas for Tennessee.

Georgia/Arkansas going on now and Georgia (16-16) is still winning. Auto-bid up for grabs for them (Arkansas is already in) and a bubble for someone will burst if it happens (Oregon?).

Barack Obama recently tried to distance himself from his pastor because of his pastor's views about America and white people.

Obama has been a member of his church for 20 odd years, was married by the man, had his kids baptized by the man and just now finds out that the man is crazy? Seems a bit pat to me no? Obama has to believe in what the man does if he stays there; it's not like you'll keep going to the same hate-monger if you aren't a hate-monger yourself.

I've read quite a few good posts at various blogs about this and at almost all of them, some moonbat will be in the comments basically giving Obama a pass because he 'denounced' the preacher man. Of couse when the media FINALLY notices that you are using an anti-American, racist, anti-semitic, hate-mongering idiot as a spiritual advisor; you have to do something to keep your 'Audacity of Hope' going.

This is simply the latest large misstep that Obama has had since he took momentum from the Hildabeast on Super Tuesday. From wanting to bomb Pakistan, the pin, the hand not on heart to his wife's (un)pride in her country; nothing in the man has even hinted that he would be capable of leading this country he loathes so much.

I detest Hilary but at least I believe she would be better for the country than this walking time-bomb. (note: I will vote for McCain and hope he destroys whomever the Dems put out there, but if one of them would happen to win, I think Obama would ruin this country much worse than Hilary could even dream of).

OK House of Reps passes Campus Concealed Carry

3/13/08 - Okla. House Passes Campus Gun Bill (Associated Press)

House Bill 2513 introduced by Rep. Jason Murphey, R-Guthrie...

The state House agreed Thursday to allow people with specialized firearms training, such as military personnel, to carry concealed weapons on the state's college campuses, despite opponents who said it made no sense following shootings at schools across the country.

The measure was approved 65-36, and now heads to the state Senate for a vote.

More can be read at the AP link above.

It is a fairly limited concealed carry bill, but at least it is a start. From what the AP story says, only those with "with firearms training certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education who hold a state concealed weapons license to carry guns on college and university campuses." It also allows active, reserve, honorably discharged military and Guard members to carry concealed as well. This helps to insure that trained and qualified persons have such permits. I don't have much of a problem with this as long as the certified training for civilians isn't to restrictive and inordinately difficult to obtain. I don't mind if the training is difficult, but the process of getting enrolled should be as easy as filling our an enrollment form and paying any necessary fees.

That being said, this next part concerns me.
Murphey's bill would require people authorized to carry a concealed handgun to provide written notice to the university or college president prior to bringing a gun on campus.
This gives the Libs that control college campi a chance to discriminate against law abiding gun owners. Is there any assurance that they will not publish these names? Or give each professor a list of students on campus that are carrying concealed weapons?

My hope is that other states will adopt similar legislation. "When seconds matter, the police are only minutes away." It's more than just a catchy phrase.

Name that Party

Hard to really call this one since the person is so well known, but it fits the theme of the game*.

CHICAGO -- Sen. Barack Obama, seeking to put to rest lingering questions about his relationship with indicted fundraiser and developer Antoin Rezko, met for roughly three hours Friday with investigative reporters and editorial board members of Chicago's two biggest newspapers.

Few details appeared new. Obama revised upward his estimate of the money that Rezko raised for his early campaigns, and he reiterated his mea culpa about coordinating the purchase of his Chicago home with Rezko and buying a piece of an adjoining property from Rezko and his wife.

It's only 9 paragraphs but is about a scandal and you can bet if the person was a Republican, it would be in the 1st paragraph. (*game is from Don Surber)

The great one himself linked (thanks)

Hey Surber readers, feel free to look around the site :) also, does anyone know why this page (the main page) loads correctly in IE but not in Firefox? The site will load in FF but then load some blank page after... any help would be greatly appreciated.

update: It has to be a bad post as is working fine (to me)

update(update): fixed (I think), not sure what it was, removed some code that was no longer doing anything, but that code had been there awhile so it shouldn't have just started messing up O.o

Watching the SEC tournament and there seems to be a tornado warning for Atlanta and the game had to be stopped.

Winds (very high) apparently made the building shake and a 'locomotive sound' was heard, the floor was cleared and now they are trying to figure out what to do.

The main problem (other than safety and a dome is the best place to be if it is indeed a tornado and not just winds) is that the tournament HAS to be done at a certain time. They are not going to move the NCAA tournament back to account for this so they will have to finish here or move if the building is not secure (there was some 'debris' falling).

Information from ESPN and the AP was not used in this report. But I will link the news at ESPN since they have it too :)

Going out tonight, hopefully I'll have fun :)

In a totally surprising move, Congress today showed that when W leaves they will raise our taxes enormously (/sarc).

Both the House and the Senate basically are telling the American people that no matter what you think of your current situation (or what the media tells you to think of it), just wait a little bit and it will get worse.

The Democrats promise to get the books back in the black while making each and every American pay more (the Senate wants some to pay more, and some not) while also raising unemployment and inflation. (ok I made the last part up, but if you take a slowing economy and jump taxes on it, guess what will happen) Of course these votes didn't actually mean anything, they were simply political in nature (which is actually the best kind of votes for us little people; the less that Congress of either stripe actually passes, the better).

The one bill that would have been great for the public probably won't pass however, the earmark one-year ban looks like it will die an agonizing death (hopefully they'll surprise me on that one). Why can't they simply take money from the people that keep bitching that taxes are too low? Do these people not realize that they can simply pay more? Maybe they should try that route.

Went out and played a round of golf today, first time in a couple years that I've been able to get out there. I won't put my score in here so I don't upset anyone (me), but it was fun and hopefully with me living in Decatur, I can do it more often. I need to light a fire under my co-bloggers to get more copy out here, but what can you do :)

The Democrats in the House today failed to override the ban and handcuff our intelligence in the fight against terror. Of course, the republicans will not speak so much about the waterboarding component and will highlight the fact that this bill had more pork than a neighborhood 'Piggly Wiggly', which is good also. The wasteful spending should have been stopped when the R's had control of Congress and for that reason they no longer have it.

The democrats will (and do) claim that this is all about torture, ignoring the fact that waterboarding has been deemed legal by the AG and not torture under any laws in this country. Of course they had the opportunity once to make it illegal and chose not to, but that's why 20/20 is such a good thing (in hindsight that is).

There will be many (and some that even are respectable) that will argue about the effect of our using waterboarding on 'their' prisoners and what 'they' do to our prisoners. These enlightened people will conveniently ignore the fact of what the monsters already do to our people when they get them and will instead hyperventilate on what they imagine might happen to someone in custody of the jihadists.

I'm sure that U.S. and western people captured by Islamic terrorists would be happy to be waterboarded instead of the usual end-game that they use (rusty knife anyone). Congress hasn't done much right in the past few years and will disappoint me again soon I'm sure, but I am happy knowing (for now) that we have the ability to put another terrorist under the drip if needed.

SEC Coach Of The Year
Billie Gillispie and Bruce Pearl were named SEC Co-Coach of the Year. Both coaches had a great year. A lot of Kentucky fans were writing off Gillispie during the first part of this season. However, once the team came together things really turned around. UK ended regular season conference play with a record of 12-4. They now have a first round bye in the SEC Tourney and will most likely make a 17 consecutive appearance to the NCAA National Championship Tournament.

The Vols were ranked #1 for their first time ever. They also won their first regular season SEC Championship in just over 40 years. They also stand (in my opinion) the best chance at winning the SEC Tournament Championship.

Lawmaker Tim Couch from Kentucky (why are the idiots always in the south... don't answer that) wants to fine people like me for letting people I don't know comment on my site.

He wants to make it where every commenter has to register their name and address with any site they comment on and fine the owner of said site up to $1000 if they don't comply. I personally detest anonymous commenters (at least make up a name heh) but that doesn't mean I think you have to register who you are to be online.

This bill is supposed to stop 'online bullying' but would only stop online commenting. People, for various reasons, do not want their real-life information floating around in anymore places than it has to be. I'm sure that little out-of-the-way sites such as mine would simply not be stops for people any longer if there was a threat involved.

People that comment anonymously wont' change simply because the government tells them to, they will gravitate to other sites or simply drop off. There has been quite a few asinine bills to come from Congress, but I think this may be close to the top.

The Mainstream Press Never disappoints

NEWS FLASH : Gov. Spitzer in sex scandal !!

Of course, I had to wait 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym before they mentioned his party affiliation on CNN ( hey, I don't control what is on the screen).

Anyone want to bet on how long it would've taken them to identify him as a Republican if he were one??

Oh yeah...for those who didn't know, that was a clue.

He is a democrat!!

In other news:

Water is wet

The Sun Rises in the East.

That is all !!

Not feeling the best today so I stayed home from work (float week) and am watching basketball (tourneys). Some interesting games so far today.

Saw a house fire yesterday on the way to work; there was 3-4 firetrucks and various other emergency vehicles around and looked to be under control from what I could tell driving by (was on the way to work). This morning on my way home from work, the same house was still on fire with only 1 firetruck around. Not sure if it stayed burning or re-lit, but the house was gone this time :( I feel sorry for the family.

If you get a chance, head over and say a few words to Calum; he's been down and out lately and needs some pick-me-ups. I'm sure there are other people that need visits and good words, but he's the one I'm linking here :)

Getting ready to finish emptying my house (and hopefully selling it) and will get my first full week back in Decatur. Love being around people and hopefully this is what I need to get over my funk. Who knows, I may be back to being an ass sooner than I think (heh)

Help Needed

I need help on making a proper web.config file for my domain. Everytime I try to upload one, I get a runtime error loading my web page.

I need the config file so I can add permissions for sockets (for some ad things) and I am (very) new to ASP.Net and basically am stuck.

Of course I call godaddy and they are no help. I have Visual Studio and uploaded the generic web.config file and got the same error (or lack of a load on my wepage). Any help would be appreciated.

Moving Companies Reviews

Is your company relocating you? Are you looking to move out of your present digs and get your stuff into your new house? Do you need to “get out of Dodge” in a hurry? Some people move all of their belongings themselves. However, many people prefer to make things easier on themselves, and their backs, by hiring professional moving companies to move them.

Selecting any one of the thousands of moving companies can be a very tough task. Will they show up on time? Will they damage my things? Will they damage my walls and floors during the move? Will they finish on-time? These are just two of the questions that every person, that is contemplating hiring professionals to move their entire lives, will have.

Fortunately Moving Company Reviews is here to assist you. They allows people the ability to research professional moving companies in their area. Each moving company, like Reliance Relocation Services, has a review posted by the hosts or by visitors to the site.

In fact, that is one of the best things about the site itself. The public actually gets to participate in the reviews. Good or bad, the visitor has the ability to either reward a company for a job well done or punish them for shoddy work.

If you have moved recently and the experience is fresh in your memory, then go to Moving Company Reviews and read how you can have your review be published. The owners of the site as well as any potential moving company clients will be very appreciative. And you might get a kick out of seeing your review online.

Check them out, the trip is well worth it.

From MaggiesFarm via Ace:

This piece by Major Shul came in over the transom:

In April 1986, following an attack on American soldiers in a Berlin disco, President Reagan ordered the bombing of Muammar Qaddafi's terrorist camps in Libya. My duty was to fly over Libya and take photos recording the damage our F-111's had inflicted. Qaddafi had established a 'line of death,' a territorial marking across the Gulf of Sidra, swearing to shoot down any intruder that crossed the boundary. On the morning of April 15, I rocketed past the line at 2,125 mph.

I was piloting the SR-71 spy plane, the world's fastest jet, accompanied by Maj Walter Watson, the aircraft's reconnaissance systems officer (RSO). We had crossed into Libya and were approaching our final turn over the bleak desert landscape when Walter informed me that he was receiving missile launch signals. I quickly increased our speed, calculating the time it would take for the weapons-most likely SA-2 and SA-4 surface-to-air missiles capable of Mach 5 - to reach our altitude. I estimated that we could beat the rocket-powered missiles to the turn and stayed our course, betting our lives on the plane's performance.

A great read, click on over and read it all. Makes me wish I was tall enough to fly a plane :)

The internet is acting crazy at the house so no posting or visiting from me (or not much). Hopefully the other guys will jump in here.

International Gendercide Day

International Women's Day. Much of the world and the Woman Worshipping West will celebrate this event with glowing reports of initiatives, programs and progress.

Enlightened people everywhere are and should be appreciative of this.

Yet there is a chilling curtain of intolerance that shrouds much of the world in scary places where the concept of Mother's Day has never really caught on.

Perhaps a more accurate nom de voyage for today should be International Gendercide Day.

The stats are horrific on a Hitlerian scale.

110 million to 200 million are 'missing' every year. 1.5 to 3 million women and girls die each year because of their gender.

Violence or neglect.

"In countries where the birth of a boy is considered a gift and the birth of a
girl a curse from the gods, selective abortion and infanticide eliminate girl

Young girls die from neglect, because food and meds are reserved
first for brothers, fathers, husbands and sons.

In countries where women are considered the property of men, their fathers, brothers and husbands murder them for choosing their own sexual partners.

These are called "honor" killings, though honor has nothing to do with it.

Young brides are killed if their fathers do not pay sufficient money to the men who have married them; these are called "dowry deaths" although they are not deaths; they are murders.

The brutal international sex trade in young girls kills uncounted numbers of women.

Domestic violence is a major killer of women in every country on the globe.

Women between the ages of 15 and 44 are more likely to be killed or maimed by
their male relatives than as a result of cancer, malaria, traffic accidents or
war – or all of them put together.

So little value is placed on women’s health that every year roughly 600,000 women die giving birth.

Six thousand small girls are victims of ungodly gender apartheid every day, according to the UN. Many die. Others live the rest of their lives in crippling pain.

According to the World Health Organization, one woman out of every five is
likely to be a victim of rape or attempted rape in lifetime.

And this is genocide.

These killings are not silent--- all the victims scream. It is not so much that the world does not hear them; it is that we fellow human beings choose not to pay attention. "

The American experience proves as girls advance status wise, so do families, communities, career work places - and the entire nation.

Tolerance and egalitarianism are the handmaidens of success - on every scale - personal, national and international, wealth, education, self worth.

With war against women, there will be no peace.

Deny us learning and literacy and we grant failure, intolerance, misery and rage to our own sons and daughters too.

Ignore us and neglect us. Keep your societies pitiful, needy, and backwards.

If we are not loved, we will not love back; and if we are not nurtured, we will neglect.

If we are not valued - we have no values to instill.

Women who are treated with cruelty give birth to murderous intolerants and oppressors.

If we are destroyed, we destroy too.
