UPDATE: Hostage situation at University of Louisville

More information is available on the story posted earlier.

Woman in hostage incident now charged in murders of her two children

A 37 year old Louisville woman has been charged with the shooting deaths of her two children at their Okolona home. Gail Lynn Coontz is also the woman that was involved in a hostage incident Thursday at the University of Louisville.

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Louisville Metro Police announced Coontz's arrest in the children's deaths, ages 10 and 14. Their bodies had been found Thursday morning inside the family's home at 4709 Settle Blvd.

Coontz has been charged with the murder of her 14 year old son Gregory and 10 year old daughter Randi. It is always a tragedy when children are the victims of such horrible acts of violence. But when the violence is perpetrated by a loved one. Especially when it is a parent. Mothers are many times the parent that children trust the most.

I can only hope that this woman is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Then may she rot in jail until the State puts her out of our misery.
