UK vs VMI

I was wondering how long it would be before Nazh couldn't help to tease me about this game. ;)

That was definitely not a fun game to witness as a fan. Well at least the first 30 minutes.

I was at the game last night. VMI totally controlled the first half. They had UK playing their game. They were forcing turnovers, shooting the lights out, and completely in control. Kentucky was playing right into it too. Along with the forced turnovers Kentucky was giving the ball to them all on their own. Halfway through the first half VMI had already scored 44 points. They were on pace to score 80 points in the first half. THE FIRST HALF! Kentucky managed to protect the ball a little better and defend the three better.

The second half started out much like the first did. It did not look good for UK at all. They were on their way to getting their asses handed to them by 20 points or more. Until about the 10 minute mark. Kentucky mounted a comeback that really fired up Rupp Arena. They were able to do all the things that they should have done for the entire first half. It was awesome.

Then the machine ran out of gas. They started making turnovers again and letting VMI stay in the game. Then eventually win it.

It was disappointing. As a fan I was upset with their performance. At the same time I was excited with their ability to come back and at least make the game something interesting.

It does not make one feel comfortable with UK's next opponent. University of North Carolina Tarheels. If Kentucky plays like they did against VMI, it will be a very, VERY long night.

FYI, UNC is #2 on the list of most wins in NCAA Men's Basketball. Kentucky being the first.
