Gas Prices

CAMARILLO, Calif. – The average price of U.S. gasoline fell 22 cents a gallon
during the past two weeks, bringing it to its lowest level in nearly five years,
according to a national survey released Sunday.
The average price of regular
gasoline Friday was $1.75 a gallon, oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said.
The price of mid-grade was $1.90 a gallon and the price of premium was $2.02 a
gallon.(link)

Supply and demand at work. When the global 'cool-down' hits China hard; look for gas to continue a drop-off.

I wouldn't be surprised to see (briefly) gas hit a dollar a gallon again.

Bolt - after

Sad to say, this movie... rocked :) By far the best movie I've seen in awhile. Me and lil bit laughed all the way through it. Great plot, good acting (heh) and a little drama. And in 3d.

Unlike when I was little, the 3d actually is 3d. Not the blue and red funky glasses and everything just looks kinda blurry, this is everything looks like it's right there in your face kind of 3d, which made the movie that much better.

If you have a small child anywhere around (or if you can steal one); go see this show. Even at 17 bucks for us two, it was worth it.

Bolt

Going to see this today with lil bit for her birthday (not today, but she won't be here for it). We'll review it when we get back :)

Humor

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

"In honor of this holy season" Saint Peter said, "You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven."

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle", he said.

"You may pass through the pearly gates" Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells."

Wanted

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie - Wanted (Fox)

Decent plot, good premise, top notch actors. Without Jolie in this movie I would have been watching Zohan reruns with subtitles. This movie would rate a 2 on a 10 without her; as it is; it rates about a 4.

Without my fascination with Jolie, I wouldn't use this DVD for a coaster.

Wanted

Going to watch Wanted tonight; I'll post on how I like it

Work

Working over until 10:30 tonight, so no movie or anything today :) Of course I'm not posting regularly anyway, but thought I'd put something out there.

Bankruptcy is complete (at least my part) and the house went on it. The lady that was renting from me packed up and left without telling me (and stiffing me 2 months) so bye bye house.

This means that my total monthly bill (expenses) will be around 12% of my pay instead of 34% (and was 77% before the bankruptcy) so I should be able to go out with people sometime :)

Next year I'll have to travel some (h'lo EMB, Thai, GG, Court) heh

Brittany SnowBrittany Snow - Finding Amanda (Amanda)
This movie sucked too, but it was better than the Zohan :(

Kiffin deaux

As good as the UT defense was this year; I have a feeling it will only get better.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin will be joining his son Lane at Tennessee, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Davis' letter to Kiffin

NFL.com Video

Al Davis reads the letter he sent to Lane Kiffin.

One of the stumbling blocks that led to the demise of Lane Kiffin in Oakland with Al Davis was that Kiffin wanted to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and hire his father Monte of the Bucs -- the highest paid defensive coordinator in the NFL.

Tennessee has reached an agreement with Lane Kiffin to take over as the Volunteers' next coach, with an announcement planned for Monday, barring any snags, according to multiple sources.

Sources confirm to ESPN that his 68-year-old father plans to join his son after the Bucs' season.

Kiffin once introduced a more aggressive national recruiting plan to USC and he recruited ex-Vols great Peyton Manning, who was consulted by his alma mater and signed off on Tennessee's hiring of Kiffin, sources told ESPN.

Great news for Vol fans.

Celeb o'the Day - Emmanuelle Chriqui

Emmanuelle ChriquiEmmanuelle Chriqui - Don't Mess with the Zohan (Dalia)

Without Emmanuelle, I would have never finished watching this movie. I usually love Adam Sandlers movies and have heard nothing but good things about the Zohan; but I hated it. The plot sucked *but plotlines in comedies usually do* and the acting was worse. Many times I almost just turned it off. Hard to belive that a movie that everyone liked would be that bad.

24

Marisol Nichols (Nadia)
It's not just a TV show anymore. In a season that saw the head coach ousted and the offense put the word offensive back into the football lexicon; Tennessee found a way to take the Kentucky game for the 24th time.

Holding Kentucky to less than 200 yards while racking up that many on the ground. The defense set the tone and continued to hold the line the entire game (with the exception of a 'trash' touchdown late).

Final score 28-10; but it wasn't that close. Sorry EMB :)

Basketball

UT men played Middle Tennessee State (at MTSU) last night. ESPN's experts have tagged MTSU and one of the 'teams-to-beat' this season for their returning experience. It was a good game.

UT 76 - MTSU 66

The women played UTC (Chattanooga, at UTC) and needed late free throws to come away with a win. Replacing all 5 starters from a double national championship team is tough eh?

Meh

Finally the word gets its due:

There is nothing meh about the journey of the latest entry in the Collins English Dictionary. Rather, it illustrates how e-mail and the internet are creating language.

“Meh” started out in the US and Canada as an interjection signifying mediocrity or indifference and has evolved, via the internet and an episode of The Simpsons, into a common adjective meaning boring, apathetic or unimpressive in British English.

The word was chosen over hundreds of others nominated by the public for inclusion in the 30th anniversary edition of the dictionary, to be published next year. Jargonaut, frenemy and huggles were among entries suggested to the Word of Mouth campaign, run in conjunction with Waterstone’s. The panel that made the final selection chose meh because of its frequent use today.

Meh was submitted by Erin Whyte, from Nottingham, who defined it as “an expression of utter boredom or an indication of how little you care for an idea”. The dictionary will say that meh can be used as an interjection to suggest indifference or boredom – or as an adjective to say something is mediocre or a person is unimpressed.(link)

Been saying this word since the old Lineage I days and see it everywhere (on the 'net). So it's just due to be a word :)

Not Good Enough to Win

Heh. The Eagles and Bengals played to the first NFL tie since '02 today and they should both be fined for ugly play (yes it was that bad).
"Terrible," Bengals quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said.No one was more surprised than McNabb that it ended so soon -- 3 hours, 46 minutes after the opening kickoff. The 10th-year quarterback thought it would keep going until someone scored, just like a playoff game.Wrong."I didn't know that," said McNabb, who played a leading role in keeping it tied. "I've never been part of a tie. I never even knew it was in the rule book. I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game. But unfortunately with the rules, we settled with a tie."It was the first tied game in the NFL since Nov. 10, 2002, when the Falcons and Steelers finished 34-34 with Michael Vick and Tommy Maddox matching each other pass for pass. In this one, the teams matched each other gaffe for gaffe. The Eagles (5-4-1) have yet to win a close(link)
I'd like to think the NFL would apologize for anyone that actually watched this game.

Tenn vs UTC

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tyler Smith had 21 points and five assists and No. 14 Tennessee defeated Chattanooga 114-75 on Saturday night.

Chattanooga's only lead came off two free throws by Khalil Hartwell to put the Mocs up 8-7 with 16:22 left in the first half.J.P. Prince, who was questionable for the game because of an injured shoulder, came off the bench to help ignite the Vols with a breakaway layup that gave Tennessee a 9-8 lead. The Vols went on a 12-0 run, helped by five points from Bobby Maze.Tennessee (1-0) entered halftime with a 60-37 lead.Tennessee freshman Scotty Hopson scored 17 points. Wayne Chism had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.Tennessee scored 35 points off 24 turnovers by the Mocs (0-1). The Vols outrebounded the Mocs 42-30 and scored 62 points in the paint.(link)
Unlike Kentucky, Tennessee was able to impose its' will on a lesser opponent. The defense was crisp, the offense was stroking and the score showed it.

This game doesn't tell us anything about the season, but it's always good to come out on fire.
